POTABLE AND GROUNDWATER PRODUCTS from Purolite
Purolite has been serving the groundwater and drinking water industry since the company’s inception in 1981. We are at the forefront of treatment technology and focus on developing specialized ion exchange resins and adsorbent solutions that comply with new regulations and target emerging contaminants.
Groundwater remediation and the cleanup of water for the purpose of drinking water (potable) has evolved since the origin of the Clean Water Act by the United States Environmental Protection Agency in 1972 and Purolite has evolved with it. We have played a key part in developing solutions that provide safe, clean water to both the environment and homes. While granular activated carbon removes a broad spectrum of compounds, some contaminants require a more efficient, selective treatment technology. Ion exchange resins provide the selectivity required to target specific species of inorganic or, in some cases, organic compounds. The ability to focus on the contaminant of concern, reduces waste and operating costs incurred by the end users.
Some contaminants are removed by relying largely on the ion exchange properties of our resins (e.g. nitrate and uranium) while others (e.g. perchlorate and TOC) rely on the combination of unique ionic, adsorptive and hydrophobic characteristics of our specialty products.
Our ion exchange resins target very specific contaminants in the water. Compared to other water treatment technologies, ion exchange has very fast kinetics allowing relatively short requirements for contact time. This means that a large flow can be treated in a small footprint, reducing the cost of remediation.
Purolite continues to invest resources to develop resins that last longer, require less regeneration chemicals (where applicable) and reduce waste.
We are a leader in the development of single use resins for many contaminants which eliminates a liquid waste stream. Water operators appreciate the simplicity of using our resins.
Additionally, through our PRSM program and other offline design calculators, we have the ability to model throughput based on customer water quality and provide design recommendations. Based on the application, throughput guarantees may be available. With our modeling, engineers and end users can understand operational and capital costs before a system is built.
In addition to partnering with customers to tailor resin solutions for a wide range of challenging applications, Purolite is recognized globally for outstanding technical sales and support, a customer-centered approach, and top-tier research and development resources and laboratories.
Purolite resins used in the remediation and drinking water markets comply with: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, US-FDA inspected plants comply with FDA 173.25 and 173.65, HALAL, Kosher and NSF/ANSI-61.
